Psittacosis Prevention and Control

The Compendium of Measures to Control Chlamydia psittaci Infection Among Humans (Psittacosis) and Pet Birds (Avian Chlamydiosis) has been published by the NASPHV and CDC since 1997 and provides standardized recommendations for public health officials, veterinarians, avian veterinarians, pet industry representatives, pharmacists, physicians, and epidemiologists concerned with the control of psittacosis and avian chlamydiosis and minimizing health risks associated with exposure to infected pet birds.
